What you’ll do
- Build and maintain web applications in JavaScript with modern frameworks such as React (Next.js), Angular or Vue.
- Use AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor or GitHub Copilot across your whole workflow, from planning and writing code to testing, refactoring and documentation.
- Review AI-generated code critically and keep it secure and easy to maintain.
- Help the team get more out of AI by sharing how you work and setting up workflows others can pick up.
- Work closely with designers to turn interface designs into clear, usable experiences.
- Connect with APIs and backend systems.
- Keep accessibility and performance in mind from start to finish. In public services, everyone has to be able to use what you build.
- Lead by example in writing clean, well-tested and documented code.
Where you’ll work
You’ll spend one or two days a week at the client’s office at most. On the other days you choose whether to work from home or from our offices in Ghent or Antwerp.
What we’re looking for
- Several years of experience as a front-end or JavaScript developer, with work you can show us.
- Confidence with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.
- You use AI coding tools daily and keep up with how they change. You know how to give AI the right context and set it up to follow the team’s conventions. You notice quickly when it’s guessing, and you know when to let an agent run and when to step in yourself.
- A solid grasp of responsive design, mobile-first development and web accessibility (WCAG).
- Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows.
- You fix bugs before anyone asks and keep pushing the quality up.
- Clear communication and a team-focused mindset.
- You’re fluent in Dutch and English.
- You work as a freelancer.
